Oracle Interface Demo

These pages illustrate using Internet Information Server, Windows NT, ODBC and Active Server Pages to interface Oracle (running on Unix) to the web. These pages were created using Microsoft Exchange. The pages themselves are pure HTML and should display on any (tables capable) browser. Although the demo only illustrates accessing information from Oracle, it is also possible to use the same mechanism to update information.

Notes: After perusing newsgroups, calling Oracle Tech support, and considerable help from George Crane and Karen Heidenriech I discovered the following magic rules for making the Oracle ODBC driver work under windows NT.

  1. Install Office 97
  2. Install SQL Net 2.3.2.1.6A (from the most recent Oracle Developer 2000 CD)
  3. Do NOT install the ODBC driver from Oracle, instead use the Visigenics ODBC driver that installs as part of Office 97.

Thats it...as easy as 1...2...3.
