1. The Applet doesn't work for me, how come?
   The applet only works with recent versions of Netscape or IE. You must have previously installed the Java Plug-in, which comes as part of the Java Runtime 1.5 or later. Windows users can click-here to download it. (Netscape users, after clicking on the link above you will be prompted to save the file. Remember where you save the file and then use windows explorer to navigate to that directory and double-click on the file to install it.)
2. Why do you use Java Web Start?
   Because it is the easiest way to install a cross-platform Java application. Once you have installed the application you can run it even when you are not connected to the internet, but if you are connected Java Web Start automatically checks and updates your version of the program each time it runs. This means you always have the latest version, and I don't have to waste time making new install kits. For more information see Sun's Java Web Start page.
